Installing on Windows 8 or 10
Compared to Windows 7, Windows 8 and 10 added some security features. When double-clicking the installer, you might see a blue dialog window with a caption saying “Windows protected your PC” and the following message: “Windows SmartScreen prevented an unrecognized app from starting. Running this app might put your PC at risk.” Right underneath the message you’ll see a hyperlink reading “More info” and a “Don’t run” button.
Clicking “More info” will show the App name and the Publisher (Dr. Thomas Barnekow, if the installer was signed by myself). Next to the “Don’t run” button, you will then also see the “Run anyway” button. Click that one to launch the installer. Then follow the instructions provided by the installer.
Solving Trust Issues
If Microsoft Office tells you that it can’t install an add-in because you don’t trust the publisher, please add a Trusted Publisher Certificate (click the link to see how this is done).
